I haven’t laughed as much as I have during this desert engagement session in a long time. I have known Hannah for so long! She was in the youth group for out church when I was a leader. She has babysat my kids for years, and they love her too! I photographed her senior session a few years ago when she graduated, and I was so excited when they asked if I could shoot their engagement session. We had wavered back and forth deciding if they wanted to shoot in the city, or if they wanted the desert, and if you’ve been around here at all, you know I love the desert. I was stoked when they decided to shoot in the desert.
We started in one of my favorite parts of the Columbia Basin. There is a small area around what us locals call the “S” curves that is just a big sand dune. Because of wind and weather, it is constantly changing so you never really get the same thing twice. I had them frolicking through the sand, laughing, and we played silly games. It wouldn’t have been complete without Hannah’s mom and two sisters along with us though. They helped in the laughing and shenanigans (if you look close, you’ll see “Bigfoot”. HA!). After the sand dunes, we headed down to the river as the sun was setting. I did warn them that down by the river, there were bugs- lots of bugs. I kept pointing out all the fish jumping to eat the bugs. It was a pretty dreamy night. and unlike Hannah’s seniro session, we didn’t have to battle 30 mile per hour winds. That’s always a win in my book! 😉
Erik and Hannah- I’m so excited for you to go on this next adventure together. Marriage is THE best. It’s work, but it’s also so, so worth it! Congrats!!!
If you enjoyed this desert engagement session, check out this one too!
