It’s been a while since I have been able to shoot a wedding at Sugar Pine Barn, so it was fun to get back there for Jack and Kirby’s wedding day. I hadn’t been out there since their new ownership, but they have done an amazing job with the place! They have added more landscaping, and have made it even more beautiful than it was already. It was stunning. I also got to work with Bliss Events for the first time, and I was bummed when I found out that the owner, Rochelle, has sold her company to another amazing lady, Stephanie, but after getting to know her, I cannot wait to work with her more in the future! She’s going to do a great job!

The day was a perfect fall day! It was warm, and just a light breeze here and there. There were a few things of the day that I loved so much! I always tell my clients to never feel like they HAVE to do any tradition that they don’t want to. Instead of reading or saying vows at their ceremony, these two chose to give each other letters to read later. I loved that they chose to do what they wanted to and didn’t just succumb to “traditions”. The bridesmaids all had different colored dresses. That’s not a new trend, but it’s one that I love so much. Not everyone’s skin tones look good in certain colors, so it’s nice to get to mix it up a little! Another thing I loved was that the bride’s mother was their officiant! I think it’s more special when the officiant knows the couple and can make it personalized to their relationship.

Throughout the day, we heard stories of the year these two spent together, from high school prom to college, to vet school and law school. The past few months have been busy for them with tests for Kirby’s vet license, taking and passing the Bar and getting sworn in for Jack, and finally their wedding day. I can’t wait to see what these two accomplish together!
