A few weeks ago, I wrote about the awesome shoot and share photo contest, but didn’t quite have all the results (check out that post HERE)! I wanted to update everyone on how I ACTUALLY did!
I really didn’t expect to do as well as I did this year in the contest. Last year I had a few images place in the top 20-30% and that was good for me. There’s some of the best in the photography business that are a part of the contest, and I was just honored to be up there with the best of them. Fast forward to this year, and I couldn’t even believe how I did! I knew that I had made it to the higher rounds with at least one of my images because my favorite count kept going up, and I had a few other photographer friends letting me know that at least THEY were still seeing my images. I think I only say mine once or twice, but I also wasn’t voting as often as I did last year.
I was so surprised when one morning I got this email–>
Then I was even more surprised to see THIS a few days later!!!! –>
That email meant that at least one of my photos ended up in the top 100 of it’s category! IN-freakin-credible!
I was so anxious to find out just which photos made it where that I had to complete ignore it. It was like torture seeing all the images roll out. First they showed everyone the 11-20 spots in each category. Then each day they announced each place from 10 on up until it was number 1! That was pretty fun, but disappointing when I didn’t make the cut, but I still can’t believe I made it to the top 100. And it wasn’t one, but TWO images that made it up there. It was in the ring shot category, and I got the 28, and 38th spot, which doesn’t seem very good when I type it out, but it was out of 6, 514 image! WOAH! I still can’t even figure it out sometimes! 😀
Those were my FAVORITE ring shots of the year, and I love that others felt the same way! 😀
Not only did I have two in the top 100 of their category, but I also had two images in the top 10%. I’m still in shock…
The first was in the people portrait category. It was just a self portrait that I did sometime this year, but I loved how it turned out, and the second was in the cake, flowers, and decor. It was pretty clear in the photo contest that naked cakes were the thing to do last year, and this “almost” naked cake ALMOST made it up there with the best of them. 😀 But man, it looks yummy!
Well, I was just happy with that. And i would have been happy with that, but when Shoot and Share released the complete results to the contest, I really couldn’t believe it. Last year when I entered, I had 2 images in the top 20, and a few in the top 30. It was kind of disappointing because I really LOVED all the images that I entered, but MAN! Have I grown since then. The final results for me were 2 images in the top 100, 2 images in the top 10%, 5 images in the top 20% and 9 in the top 30%. I’m really just in awe of it all.
Now, I almost didn’t want to post my final results for the fear of others thinking that I was bragging. I know there are so many other out there that got to the same place as I, but I’m really more proud of the fact that I have grown so much! Looking at the images from 2014 that I thought were amazing, to the images from 2015 that I think are amazing, there’s clearly a difference. Kind of a HUGE difference. I can’t wait to continue getting better and better this year and in the years ahead, and can hardly wait for the contest again next year!!!
It’s just awesome….SO so awesome. 🙂
