Shoot & Share

Shoot & Share is a photography group that is known for just that! Shooting and Sharing! It’s a business practice that as a photographer, we shoot our sessions, and then share all the edited photos with our clients instead of doing in person sales, or product sales another way. I love sharing the images from my shoots and don’t think that my clients should have to pick their favorites. I’d rather have them enjoy them all!

The Contest

One of the most fun parts of the Shoot & Share community is their annual shoot & share contest! Every year, as a shoot and share photographer, you are invited to submit a certain number of photos that go into a pool, and your fellow photographers get to vote on them.

You get to view four images at once, and choose which photo you love most. This year there was 10 rounds, with an additional two final rounds. There were SO many amazing images, it started to get hard choosing just one! Another fun part of it, is that you can save the images that are your “favorites” and after the contest, you can see who shot it, and their settings, and read the story!! AND you can see how many people love your photos too!!

I did pretty well in the contest last year, considering it was my first year ever being a part of it. I had a few photos left in the last 20-30%, and I was so happy with that!! This year, it’s kind of been torture! I didn’t vote as often as I got to last year, partially because I have this crazy 1.5 year old that doesn’t sit still, and partially because it kind of took over my life last year, but during the course of the voting, I would get fun emails from photographer friends that had taken screen shots and let me know “You’re STILL IN!!” That always made me warm and fuzzy inside, but especially when I found out that at least one of mine was in the top 100 of it’s category of 6500 images! WHAT?!? A few days after that I got this in my email…..

I was pretty excited about that! They are releasing the final 4 spots this week, and the suspense is kind of killing me!!!!!

But regardless, it’s so fun to be a part of something bigger, and the Shoot & Share community is definitely one of my favorite!
