I had so much fun during this Leavenworth engagement session! We were worried over the weekend that we wouldn’t be able to make it happen though! Last Thursday, the Cascade Mountains got HAMMERED with snow. It was up to 4-5 feet in some areas. With that came closed mountain passes (including almost all of them to Seattle) and SO. MUCH. SNOW. I watched the passes all weekend with the hopes that we wouldn’t have to reschedule our shoot, and we definitely lucked out! It was unfortunate that Dylan and Sydney’s weekend away in Leavenworth was cancelled, but I’m so glad we all made it out there safely for this super fun shoot!
These two have known each other for MANY, many years. When I asked them how long they have known each other, they both gave a little chuckle. One of Dylan’s best friends growing up was Syndey’s uncle (they are the same age), and so they spent quite a bit of time together. They joked that Dylan hasn’t changed much, and Sydney hasn’t grown much. HA! As someone who has known my husband since his pre-puberty stage, I have a pretty good appreciation for that.
Their proposal story is one that would make any one wish was their own. They headed up to Winthrop and got to go on a hot air balloon ride. They got to see some beautiful mountain views on their flight, and then afterwards headed to a viewpoint lookout. At the viewpoint, Dylan got down on one knee and asked Sydney to be his wife….and she asked if it was a joke [I can only imagine how well that went. HA!!!]. It clearly was not and that lead us to today.
I’m so excited to get to photograph these two at the beautiful Oakshire Estate this September! Luckily, we will all be a little warmer! These two were troopers for the cold, but I know me and Sydney will be happier when it’s warm. Until then, you get to see these cuties in the cold!
