These two have been an absolute dream working with from day one, and during their winter engagement session was no different. I am always a little hesitant to shoot winter sessions. The weather is usually unpredictable. What the weather WAS is unpredictable- Was it raining before? Was it snowing before? Fog? Freezing fog? You name it, we get it in Central Washington. While normally, its usually manageable, the winter time can be a little crazy. Add all of that, then the frigid cold that we can get, and it can make any photo session turn bad quickly, and no one wants that. All that aside, Jaclyn had a dream of a beautiful wintery engagement session in the desert, and I think we delivered. I knew their outfits would be on point. I knew we would have the snow after our crazy snow storm we got last week. And I knew that it may be a little chilly, but the stars aligned, and we made it happen.

The first time I met these two was the day of their session. While normally I facetime or zoom my clients, Jaclyn knew exactly what she wanted, and we booked before we even had a chance of meeting. I knew by our email exchanges that we would get along great, and we really do. That girl is a rockstar. She dealt with the cold, frozen toes, and outfit changes in the desert. Any girl that can handle those things gets a gold star in my book.

I loved hearing about how these two met and more of their story. I’m never shocked anymore to hear that my clients met online. It seems like so many people do, and I love that. While the dating pool used to be so shallow, now there are endless opportunities, and these two seized a good one.

Joel had been living in Manhattan. An attorney, living the dream in the big city (did I just walk into a Hallmark movie?), and then COVID hit. Because of that, his work became remote and he moved back home to Washington. He had enough of the big city livin’, and by chance these two hit it off on Hinge.  Their first date was to Suncadia, but Jaclyn was a little guarded after dating for a while. They watched another couple get engaged, but she was convinced that she wouldn’t see Joel again after the first date. He wasn’t letting her get away that easy. They kept talking and dating, and another romantic getaway weekend to Suncadia, and they were the ones getting engaged themselves.

I know that I am not the only one grateful that the weather will be much warmer on their wedding day this summer, but these two were troopers during this session. I think it was definitely worth it, and Jaclyn got the snowy pictures of her dreams!
