I absolutely love being a part of groups that are created for the greater good. I think there’s WAY too much negativity out there in the world, and life can be hard if you don’t have others around you that are all there for support, and a positive atmosphere. When I first heard about The Rising Tide Society, I knew it was something I had to be a part of! If you haven’t heard of the group before,Β they explain themselves like this:

We believe in educating and empowering Creatives Entrepreneurs to thrive in the spirit of Community over Competition. The purpose of this group is to give all creatives a daily place to check in with their colleagues, participate in group discussion, ask questions, and seek positive support.

It’s an AMAZING supportive community of creatives that really truly believe in #communityovercompetition! Don’t believe me, check out the hashtag on Instagram! It’s seriously amazing! So while the national group was amazing, i was always super bummed that there wasn’t a local chapter in my neck of the woods. There were a few over in Seattle, but none over here on the east side of the Cascades. It wasn’t until about a year ago or so that a group started in Wenatchee!! I was so excited that I joined right away, but never was able to make it to the meetings that they have one Tuesday a month. They call them Tuesdays Together! Cute, right?Well, Wenatchee is about an hour and a half away from me, and I just couldn’t make it happen. Then the best thing ever happened. A new group was starting over in Tri-cities. Tri-cities is only an hour away from me and I’m literally there at least once a week for grocery shopping. I knew I could make that happen. I was even more excited to find out that THE Alex Lasota would be leading our group. She’s an AMAZING photographer with a heart of gold, so I knew it was going to be good.

Summer happened, farming got busy, and I was only ever able to make it to one Tuesday Together meeting in town. The meeting was amazing, but I was still so sad that I wasn’t being as supportive in the group as I wanted to be. I was active in our online group, but I wanted more. About 2 months ago, Alex had mentioned in the group that she was thinking about the idea of having a co-leader join her in leading the group. I emailed her straight away, thinking that there was no way that would happen. I had only been to one meeting, and I don’t even LIVE in Tri-cities. Unbeknownst to me, but she emailed me back and LOVED that I wanted to join her as co-leader. We started the application process and within a few weeks, I was the new co-leader of our group. We met up one weekday to chat more about what my co-leading would look like, but we ended up talking more about life and business than we did Rising Tide stuff. OOPS! Before we knew it, a couple she was meeting with arrived to the coffee shop, and we had to cut our meeting short, but it got me even more excited for our little group.

We did decide that we would be switching who was leading the Tuesday Together, and I was nervous to lead that first one but Alex so gracious stepped up that month, but this month was my first time to lead! I was so dang excited for our meeting. I prepped the week leading up to it, I even thought about making handouts, but then quickly reassessed how excited I was getting. No handouts, but still a ton of information to go over. Then our crazy weather, dubbed Snowmagedon, happened. We got more snow in this part of Washington then they have in the last 60 years. No combined…that’s confusing. But we’ve gotten a TON of snow, and it’s been so dang cold. Because we wanted our group members to be safe, we decided to try something a little different. We had our meeting online with the Zoom app! It’s a pretty nifty little thing too. Think of Facetime, but with the ability to do it with multiple people. We had 11 or 12 members in the group at one time, and it was pretty awesome. It’s crazy what we can do with technology these days! We got a TON of helpful info from each other, and I can’t wait to see how that helps improve our own business! It was such a successful meeting, and we decided that if we needed to again, we could definitely do an online meeting in the future. So cool.

One thing that we are trying to do this year is to get a group photo at every meeting, and this was our first of 2017! A little out of the ordinary, but still so fun! Thanks to those of you that were able to show up, and we missed those of you that didn’t! Alex and myself cannot wait until next month! Until then, here’s some of our #Tuesdaystogethertcwa group!
