I have been wanting to photograph a Cattle Barn Wedding for years! There have been many trips headed up Blewett from Ellensburg that I would pass by The Cattle Barn, thinking of how amazing a wedding would look out there. I was so excited when these two inquired. We got along great with our love of black labs and I was elated when they booked me for their wedding out there!
As I mentioned, when you head up Highway 97 up to Blewett Pass on the way to Wenatchee from Ellensburg, you pass by The Cattle Barn. What looks like just your average brown barn in the middle of a cow pasture can be transformed into the most beautiful rustic wedding venue on this side of the Cascades. If you don’t believe me, just wait.
Andrew and Dani got engaged just up the mountain from The Cattle Barn so it was even more special for them to have that great memory nearby, but their wedding day wasn’t lacking in the memory department.
One thing we hadn’t planned for the first weekend of August with rain. Two weeks leading up to the day, the forecast showed sun/clouds, but never did it mention rain. It actually wasn’t even until the morning of the wedding that the rain showed up on the radar. I was thoroughly impressed with Dani’s carefree attitude even amidst the downpour and her and Andrew’s thoughts that the show must go on….outside! Their guests were also amazing, and their outdoor ceremony was beautiful in the rain. Their wedding day was full of thoughtful gifts, remembering those that have passed on, and so many good memories of these two.
Dani’s mom and grandmother gave her a strand of pearls from her recently passed grandmothers. It was a special moment, for sure.
I love a good daddy/daughter first look!
I’ve been making GIFs of photos for a while now (see the blog on how to do it here!), so I knew we could make this happen. I thought it was the perfect homage to the rainy day full of umbrellas.
Then I headed up to the boys at Andrew’s family cabin. We recreated a few past family photos, and I laughed a lot.
Then it was time for Andrew and Dani’s first look- complete with a gift of a beautiful Ellensburg Blue necklace from Andrew, and the perfect bear rug that Andrew had shot back in 2021 and had been trying to get made ever since. These two know how to give some great gifts.
They every had their sweet pup, Harper at the wedding. She was great!!
No wedding is complete without beer boys….they’ll show up again soon…
To add to all the activities of the day, Dani planned a hair chop with her maid of honor before the reception!!! It was such a fun surprise for her friends and family!! Her hair looked so cute!
