Hold on to your hats for this one guys….it’s stinkin’ AMAAAAZING. A few weeks ago, I was scrolling aimlessly through Instagram when something caught my eye! Take that back, I don’t think I was scrolling, I was watching stories…let’s be honest. SO there I was, watching some Insta-stories when I saw it. A NEW venue-close to me- that looked like it could be straight from the South! Think gorgeous white columns, heavy but beautiful brick, and the most glorious landscaping I’ve seen this side of the Mississippi with a picture-perfect wedding thrown into it. Picture all of that, and you have yourself an Oakshire Estate Wedding.
Oakshire Estate & Airfield is owned by the Wilkinson’s Family, and they have literally built it from the ground up. Russ had dreamed up the idea of Oakshire when he was just a boy, but it wasn’t until the 80’s that he and Cate would make the magic start. After a visit to the property, they bought it, and it started as just a mobile home they placed on the property, fences they built, and the trees they had planted. They planted the beautiful trees lining the drive-way the same year they had their first son- 1991. The airfield was also placed on the property because of Russ’ love of flying. They knew it would be an amazing addition for others visiting and using their property in the future. After years of planning they built their beautiful home in 2000, and it’s been a treasure in the family ever since. One thing that I noticed when I was there is you can practically FEEL the love that has gone into the property and the home. There isn’t anything they haven’t thought of.
Keep in mind though, if you’re a bride, you will want to inquire with them sooner than later! They only book a limited amount of weddings per year (just 5), and they have booked out through 2020 already! If you’re a 2021 bride, I wouldn’t hesitate to contact them now!
They have so many amazing things to offer. Depending on which package you select, you may or may not have access to the property for more than one day. But regardless, if you are one of the lucky brides to book at Oakshire, you have so many different options for the location of your ceremony and reception! Just to name a few: the backyard, the court yard, the Knight, the pond, the grand staircase, the canopy, the chapel, and the lawn! YOU GUYS! I keep gushing because there’s SO MANY OPTIONS. The only bad part of booking them might be having too many options if you’re like me and indecisive and want them all! Luckily, your photographer will remain the happiest person all day because of how many great locations for photos there are!
I wouldn’t hesitate for one second to recommend Oakshire for any bride looking for something different in our area. A killer venue, some of the sweetest people I’ve met, and a wedding day you will never forget. What else can you ask for!? Don’t believe me, just check it out for yourself! 🙂
The drive in is absolutely stunning.
Greeted at the gate.
From the front, you can make your way to the gorgeous backyard.
The possible future location of the groom’s suite.
A good ol’ aerial shot from my drone. 😉
This bridge over their creek would be the perfect spot for a first look!
Or even by their pond.
The back lawn is the second largest spot available for your ceremony or reception.
The Courtyard
The chapel is narrow, and green, and beautiful. The cross can be moved anywhere on the property.
The Knight and his arborvitae is the perfect spot to hide the bride before her entrance.
So brides, RUN…don’t walk… to book this place! 🙂
