This mountain elopement inspiration shoot was literally what my dreams have been made up since I started this crazy adventure. A freakin’ ADORABLE, super-lovey couple, a stunning Sweet Caroline skirt and top combo, some amazing vendors, and the perfect location: uh, yes please! It was amazing!
If you didn’t get to see all my Canada trip adventures, make your way over to that post here. It was such a fun trip, but the icing on the cake was this shoot that my friend Raelene (of Raelene Schulmeister Photography) was able to get put together during our time in Canada. I had this crazy idea to go to Banff in the winter time, and didn’t think about the side effects. The weather the day before our shoot was beautiful! Blue skies, hardly any wind, perfect views of the mountains, and it was perfect. Fast forward to the next day, and in mountainous fashion, the weather changed for the worst. The clouds rolled in and it was supposed to rain. All day. We stressed out a little and started searching high and low for some covered area to be able to shoot at for the sake of our cakes, but with no luck. We had this vision for our shoot, and under an ugly awning just wasn’t going to cut it! I decided to brave the elements and said “the show must go on!”
I had to keep reminding myself that our shoot was similar to any wedding day! There’s time that the weather has different ideas than the bride. There’s time that your timeline get’s WAAAAY thrown off because of hair/makeup, or a whole plethora of other reasons, but the show much go on. You can’t just decide to pick another day, and sometimes you DON’T have the option of just moving the location of the wedding, so you have to deal with the cards you’ve been played.
I’m so happy we decided to stay true to our vision and that we shot outdoors. We had 5 amazing cakes from Sugar by Tracy for the shoot! If you want to see some awesome cakes, check out her website!!! We also had some meringues from Kake by Darcy, which weren’t so fortunately during out stint in the rain, but I think the water drops added to them. 😉
Our paper goods were from Shanna of Pink Umbrella Designs out of Calgary! Her work is some of my favorite I’ve ever seen! And I also got SO many tips from Raelene about styling invitations! I wish I could take credit for doing so this time around, but styling for those pretty things was all Raelene. I can’t wait to write a post all about what I learned! 🙂
We really had some great vendors to help us out for this whole shoot, and I couldn’t be happier how it turned out, and that I can actually share it now! It’s kind of been torture!
