It really is hard for me to pick my favorite lenses. All of them have a special place in my heart somewhere, but there are definitely a few of them that I love more than the others. This has been a fun series to dive in a little bit more, and share my favorites of my favorites, and why! You can see more of this series here!

Lens Love | Sigma 50mm 1.4 ART
First off, I absolutely LOVE my Sigma ART lenses. The “A” stands for “AWESOME!” I have people ask me if they really are as awesome as everybody makes them sound, and yes. Yes they are. I actually sold a good majority of my nikon primes to get Sigma ART primes, and I never looked back. They are sharper than my Nikon 35 and 50 ever were, and I really am impatient for them to come out with a 85 ART. There’s rumors they are supposed to announce one in September, and I’m too impatient for that. It can’t come soon enough!!!! Anyways.
There’s so many photographers out there that say that their 50 rarely leaves their camera. I really wish I could be one of those people, but if I had to pick one, it would probably be my 85 in all honesty. The 50 is great in certain instances, but I find that I don’t like my portraits to have even a touch of distortion, and I get that with the 50. I do have to say though, for full body shots, or even 3/4 body shots, the 50 is AMAZING.
The Sigma 50 mm 1.4 ART is hands down just amazing. Sharp. Fast. Sure it’s heavy than the Nikon counter part, but it’s SO much better. I had the Nikon 50 1.4 and I hated how soft of a focus it was. It rarely left my bag. Hardly ever. But once I got the Sigma, I make a conscious effort to bring it out to be sure I get more diversity in my images during my sessions! I love that it gives just a little different perspective, but not quite as wide as a 35! There are definitely times that I am blown away by my images with my 50!
