Sometimes as a wedding photographer, it’s hard to stand out amongst all the others! I wanted to show you guys how to make a GIF from photos today! It’s a fun way to give your clients a little “story” of images in a fun way and that they can share on social media! It’s just fun!

There’s many ways you could choose to go with the GIFs. You could shoot 10-15 images of your couple making silly faces, or just shoot as you normally would and add those images to the GIF. Whatever you decide, it’s fun!

The first GIF I made was just images of yours truly, just to make sure I knew how to do it… 😉 This one was from last summer when we were out wakesurfing.

1. After your shoot, you’ll edit the images that you want to use for the GIF. I recommend using Lightroom for this.
2. Export the images to your computer. Long side 1024. 85% quality. Sharpen for Screen. Done.
3. Open the images in Photoshop.
4. Once they all load in PS, click File, Script -> Load files into stack.
5. All your files will load into separate layers.
6. Once they’re all loaded there, you’ll click Window -> Timeline
7. When the timeline tab opens, you’ll click “create frame animation.” This will add one of the images to the timeline. Over on the right side of the timeline tab, you’ll see a button with three little lines, you’ll click that and choose “make frames from layers.”
8. Under each photo, changes the time from 0 sec to 0.5 seconds, with the last one at 2. Then change the loop (which will be on once) to forever–that will keep your GIF going.
9. When you have the photos in the order you want them in, Ctrl-Alt-Shift-S (or whatever the Apple equivalent of that is) to save it for web. Make sure it’s saving as a GIF, 256 color, Diffusion on, Then click “Save” and save it to your desktop as whatever you please.
10. Upload your GIF to giphy.com and you’re good to go! Then you can share your GIF on Facebook, or embed it on your website.
TADAAAA!

Have fun making these fun GIFts for your clients! (pun intended! :D)

GIFs are so fun! We used to have them on our old website, and I think they’re great for a quick sneak-peek into the whole day!
