I’ve been eagerly anticipating this Gold Creek Pond engagement session from this past weekend! It’s been a hot week, but I knew headed up to the mountains that it would be cooler up there. It was slightly cooler, but I kept waiting for my temperature gauge in my car to go down further, but it held steady at about 99 degrees. It was a warm on.

These two just moved from Florida so heat isn’t new, but it was super hot and these two were TROOPERS. They love being outdoors, hiking, kayaking and traveling, and I was stoked when they said they wanted to make a weekend out of their session. I knew we had to head up to Snoqualmie Pass to give them a feel of the PNW. I’ve never been down to Florida, but I know that Washington is very different. Washington gives you just about anything when it comes to locations; the ocean, the mountains, the desert, we have it all. With the drive up to Gold Creek Pond, these two got to see just a small glimpse up I-90 of at least two of those things.

We both showed up early, and I hadn’t been up to Gold Creek Pond before so they went with me as I walked around the pond scouting for our shooting locations. I got to hear some crazy airline stories from Kristen (she’s a flight attendant), and we laughed as we sweat to death and took breaks in the shade. We even headed over to Keechelus Lake to see if there were any better locations for our shoot together, but because it’s been SO hot, the lake is extremely full and you can’t see any of the cool stumps that usually line the lake. There were also a ton more people, so we headed back to Gold Creek Pond.

I felt like we were great friends as soon as we started shooting, and their engagement session made me that much more excited for their Leavenworth wedding this August! Jon and Kristen–thanks for being so great in the heat, walking in ICE cold water for the shot, stepping on all the pokey rocks barefoot, and sweating to death! I think it was worth it! 😀
