I don’t always photograph families, but when I do, it’s usually someone that I have known for a while but haven’t seen for some time.
Me and Vanessa went to high school together, and we probably haven’t seen each other since graduation! I was so happy when she called me and asked me if I would be willing to shoot their family photos! She also wanted to make it kind of her “graduation” photos as well, since she is graduating college now, too! Currently, she’s working for a secondary school, and her students are young girls that are pregnant or have babies, from the ages of 14-21. Tough group.
When we talked on the phone, we had some good laughs about some crazy things we had done back in our high school days, how we couldn’t believe out 10 year reunion is coming up this summer, and how some of our other friends have ended up. It’s all pretty crazy when during high school, you think your friends then are going to be your lifelong friends, and then college happens and everything changes. We had a good laugh about that too.
The session was no different than our phone conversation. We had a great time, I got to meet her adorable 8 year old as well as her first baby, her dog! I love my puppies, and as they get older, I keep thinking how sad it is going to be when they go, so I make sure to get those photos with my clients and their fur babies, because you never know when they won’t be around. 🙁
I love spending time with these guys, and I can’t wait to see them again in the next few months at our reunion. (You better come Vanessa!) Thanks for making the trek to Ellensburg, and glad none of us got bit by a spider. 😉
