It’s that time of year again! I get to start photographing all my couples for their engagement session, and I have been eagerly awaiting this Eastern Washington Engagement Session. It’s not every day that one of my favorite wedding planners, Edna of Events by Edz, contacts me about a wedding that she is planning for a couple in Mattawa. I was THRILLED when she reached out, and was even more excited when I found out who it was for.
Mattawa is NOT a very big town, so I knew as soon as she told me the couple was from Mattawa that there was a good chance that I knew who they were, so when she finally told me it was Juan and Yenni, I responded with “OH! He’s our bee guy!” Juan runs a bee keeping company and for years has been utilizing my husband’s family’s farm ground for his bees! It’s great for the crops, but also great for the bees! We also went to school with Juan so we go WAY back.
As I mentioned, Edna is their wedding planner, and I CANNOT wait to see how she transforms their “bee hive.” It’s going to be SO amazing!
When it came to their engagement session, I figured that we would stay around Mattawa as things are starting to kick back up in the farming/bee world, but I was surprised (and stoked) when they asked me if I wouldn’t mind taking their engagement session with horses! I have always loved horses, and am always more than willing to have some furry friends join in our fun. Juan brought a beautiful saddle that he had made in Mexico, and I can definitely say it was the most exciting shoot with horses that I’ve had. He was a little green after not being ridden through the winter so I didn’t want to have anyone bucked off. We got our shots the horse, then headed out to a few fields. The sun even peaked out from behind the clouds to close out the session! It was such a great time!
I’m so excited to photograph their wedding this summer, and know it’s going to be amazing. Until then, check out how cute they are!
