Part of my time with the International Academy of Wedding Photography was learning from one of the best, Montana Dennis. His class wasn’t ANYTHING what I was imagining, but it was even better than that! It brought me out of my comfort zone, and I got to shoot in a way that I wouldn’t have thought of. He thinks out of the box, and through the assignments of that course, I was able to get some great shots for my portfolio that I wouldn’t have otherwise.
One of my assignments for the course was to take a couple’s photos AFTER DARK *insert photographer’s gasp here.* Photography is basically “painting with light.” How do you do that when the sun has gone down!?!
Well, Montana Dennis looks for more creative light at that point. I was lucky enough to be headed to Long Beach, Washington with my husband’s family, and I knew my brother and sister-in-laws 10 year anniversary was coming up(They actually just got home from a trip to the Philippines to celebrate. It’s been fun to see some of their photos from that).
I was fortunate enough to steal them away from their kiddos before bed time for a 10 year anniversary session when we were at the motel to get some very cool shots once the sun went down. You can still see how much they love and cherish each other and I’m so grateful they were will to be my models for this shoot!
Happy 10 year anniversary guys! Here’s to eternity more!
