Montana Dennis is like a majestic unicorn. If you haven’t seen his work before you should probably check it out. He has a fun spin on modern yet almost traditional photography that is always interesting to look at. I loved watching his course with the International Academy of Wedding Photographers, and when I knew he was doing a styled shoot at United 2016 I HAD to be in that shoot. The way he thinks about photography is so much different than most and is a refreshing reminder that we DON’T have to do what everyone else is doing. We have the creative freedom to shoot how and what we want, and that’s pretty freeing.

If you’re one of my couples, chances are you have gotten to play the nose game, and though I wish I could take credit for that, but I can’t. I got it from Montana’s Academy course, and I love the reactions that I get from it so much that I incorporate it into almost every shoot. I got to see it from him and it was just as good! 😀 Definitely one of my favorite tricks. HA!
Watching other photographers and hearing their thought process on a shoot is so fun to me. Montana is a pro when it comes to shooting in harsh light, and we definitely had some of that. I’m pretty familiar with harsh light, but often times am too quick to put my clients in the shade, or a “safe spot.” Montana takes it to another level and tries shooting things in a more creative way. It was good to see him use shadows and the light in a way that most don’t. It was just rad.
The models interactions were authentic, and I absolutely loved it!
