I love being able to collaborate with other vendors, not only in my area, but also from online! When I was on the hunt for dress vendors, I stumbled across Bliss Tulle. I had known about them from my Viking-esque winter session with Hans and Brittany this winter, and I knew that a Bliss Tulle skirt would be AMAZING. We had another plan for a skirt for our shoot, but were having issues getting a for sure yes or no, so I knew I had to ask Bliss Tulle. They’re so amazing about lending out their dresses, and of course they said yes and shipped it over when it was time!
I had only shot with their elastic banded skirts, and so I was super bummed when I realized that this one wasn’t, and it was also SUPER tiny. Completely my fault, not realizing that my Canada model’s waist measurement wasn’t necessarily correlating to her booty measurement. The Bliss Tulle skirt didn’t fit over her hips, but I knew that once I got home, I would be able to find another model! In walks my hand Tuesdays Together group!!
I posted that I was looking for a model in the specific size and I had some awesome girls up to the task! I ended up deciding to shoot with Julie who is also a hair stylist in our group, and I knew she would be perfect for my sand dune session! It was so fun getting to know her more, and getting her in front of my camera! She has a great smile, and gorgeous eyes, so it’s hard to go wrong! đ
After our session, we did hit a little bit of a snag. I drive a AWD Ford Edge so I don’t even think twice when it comes to parking along side of the road (mind you, it was all sand). I didn’t even think about it when Julie pulled up in her super cute little BMW and parked behind me. That was until we started to pull out. I waited for her to leave, but she wasn’t and I immediately knew the problem. She was stuck….super stuck. I wasn’t much good pushing alone, but luckily, this friendly man with a pickup and a chain came and stopped to help us, only to realize the bottom of a BMW is COMPLETELY paneled in plastic and there’s NO PLACE to hook a chain up. This is probably because most people that drive a BMW don’t drive around in the sand…or the snow…or anywhere else that they could potentially get stuck. Fortunately enough, another truck full of younger guys pulled up and were ready with a shovel. They dug out her back tires, pushed her out, and we were on our way.
But now I know, make sure the models don’t park in sketchy locations with their two wheel drive vehicles unless I have a tow strap and a shovel. HA! đ
