It’s always fun for me to get to shoot in Ellensburg. I feel like Ellensburg is like a second home to me, and this Olmstead Place Engagement Session with Forrest and Gemma made my heart so happy! After our wintery month of February, I had been itching to finally get to start shooting again. After what felt like forever of snow storm after snow storm, it had finally started to settle down and the weather on this day was perfect! It wasn’t too cold, but it was still a little chilly, but that just meant they go to keep each other warm and snuggle close. I always love that!
I loved getting to know these two more! We had only facetimed a few times when it came to planning, and it was so fun getting to watch them interact with each other. We NEVER stopped laughing. I was worried just a few weeks ago that this session wouldn’t happen! Forrest was admitted to the ER just a few weeks ago with debilitating pain. He started to get some flu-like symptoms which turned into debilitating pain thanks to a pesky 7 MM kindey stone!! ICK, right? Luckily, he’s recovering well and has started to feel better.
How They Met
These two met thanks to a mutual friend placing them into a group chat. They started talking outside of the group chat and instantly hit it off. For that mutual friend’s birthday, Gemma got Forrest a ticket to get to Ellensburg to surprise her (which was great thinking on her part!) and so she could also meet him in person! Genius! HA! They got along so well they were dating a few weeks later. Thank goodness for good friends! 🙂
The Proposal
Their proposal was a great story too!! They both love the show ‘Twin Peaks.” If you’re familiar with the show, you know the intro has the Salish Lodge in it, and they decided to stay there one weekend for their 5th anniversary! They checked into their room, and then Forrest asked Gemma if she wanted to go check out the falls. They hiked down to the platform and once they were there, Forrest had asked someone to take a photo of them. It was then and there he dropped to one knee and asked her to be his wife. I laughed when she told me those photos were awful, but still a perfect reminder of such a great moment, but then they asked someone else down there to get some better shots of them.
As far as their session goes, it was PERFECT to get back into my engagement session seasons with them. These two had me laughing so hard, from talking about true crime to laughing about a little mouse who we were encroaching his “home.” I cannot wait for their September wedding this year!
