It’s a new year!!!! I still can’t believe that it’s 2016. I really do feel like it was just the beginning 2015. I don’t know how the last 6 months of the year went by. Time seems to be moving faster and faster, and I don’t know if it will ever stop speeding up.

Over the month, I have been looking over my last year and I really do have a lot to be grateful for. My goals were exceeded far beyond what I ever thought they would be. I shot the amount of weddings I wanted. I got to photograph more seniors than I even dreamed of, and I got to work with some amazing families this past fall. I really am grateful for all my amazing clients. I’m grateful that I got to know some amazing couples this past year with my weddings, and I can’t wait to work with more amazing people this year.

This time of the year not only do I look over my last year, but I start thinking about goals for this year. What do I want to shoot? Who is my ideal client? What is my goal as a business owner? All of these questions are really kind of nerve-wracking to sit down and this about it, but it’s a necessary evil when running a business.
I’m grateful for big goals this coming year, and even though they kind of terrify me, I hope that I reach them and exceed them as I did this year!
New Year | New Goals
One of my BIG goals for the year is to spend more time with my family, and less time on social media. I’m seriously astonished when I think about the time I spend on Facebook. Every time my phone dings, I check my phone to see what happened recently on Facebook. This is going to stop this year, and I can’t wait to see how productive I am because of it. Another family oriented goal I have this year is to get to go on a trip. We went to Maui two years ago, and i’m really ready to do that again. I didn’t get to see a lot of Hawaii that I was hoping for so that’s a must!
And another goal is to take more pictures of my baby. For the first year, I was shooting every month, and even halfway in the month. It’s fun to look back at those to see how much she changed, but once she hit a year, I slacked SO much, and I feel like she’s changed more in those 6 months than in the first 12. I want to work on shooting more family things and not just shooting for my clients. I need to get back to that (like the first time she played in the snow! :).
One of my biggest focuses business wise this year is to continue to truly SERVE my clients. I really am honored when I get to work with my clients. They choose me, out of SO many photographers to document their wedding day, or their family. I love that I get to save that little moment in time for them, and they will have those images to remember that forever. I love that their future generations will have that as well.
I’m also looking forward this year to rebrand! Come March I will start working with The Autumn Rabbit on rebranding EVERYTHING!! I’m excited to see what she comes up with, but also terrified of the change. But I know it will be so, so good.
2016 is going to be a great year. Kind of terrifying. Kind of nerve-wracking. One of those give-everything-and-hope-it-comes-back-to-you years. But it’s going to be great!
What are you looking forward to the most this year? What are your goals?
