It was almost fate that I got to be a part of this intimate Methow Valley Elopement. With all these coronavirus quarantines, TP hoarding, and people wreaking havoc on grocery stores, it was almost a blessing to get to head up to Mazama and be a part of Noam and Ruru’s special day. A little backstory:
Tuesday afternoon, I got an email from one of Ruru’s friends, Karen. She let me know some behind the scenes info- these two had planned on getting married in Australia, where Ruru is from. For the last year, they have been planning and getting things ready for their destination wedding that was supposed to happen on Thursday. Then the coronavirus took hold of the world, and slowly things started to fall apart. It was looking like some important people weren’t going to be able to make it to the wedding, and they made the heart wrenching decision that they would have to cancel the wedding in Australia. BUT, along with the help of many of their friends, they decided the show must go on and threw together a beautiful, perfect elopement in the northern Cascades. Luckily, I was available and more than happy to help them!!!
Ruru has always loved the Methow Valley and when brainstorming where they would have their elopement, it was at the top of the list. Leading up to Saturday, there was a Winter Storm watch and they were supposed to get up to 7 inches on the east slopes of the Cascades. Thankfully, weatherman have a tendency to get things wrong and the weather, though a little cold, was perfect. The sun even poked it’s way through the cloud for a short time while we were doing photos.
These two were troopers as we did their first look outside in the cold, and then busted out their portraits in record time (they were pros), and then it was time to get them married! One of their friends performed the ceremony and it was the perfect mix of personal stories, vows they promised to each other, and then their first kiss as husband and wife. Like always, I was honored to be a small part of their big day!
Noam and Ruru: thank you SO much for allowing me to witness such a special day! You guys were all so kind and welcoming, and I wish you guys the best during this crazy time! Thank you again, and congrats!!!
