I feel like I need a virtual drumroll for this. I’ve been working towards something for a few weeks now. I got this crazy idea to start adding drone photography to my arsenal of skills, and I cannot wait to start using it with my clients!!!
This last week I took a little break from blogging. I only blogged once, you guys! After blogging pretty consistently three days a week, it was nice to just take a break. I did blog once last week to talk a little about the amazing Rising Tide Society! If you missed that, or have no idea what that is, you should probably go back and read that one. Part of the reason that I didn’t blog anything besides that was because I was studying my little heart out for my Part 107 test so I can legally fly my drone for commercial purposes.
You see, (this is all speculation friends-ha!) last year, the government decided that drones were becoming more and more available to the public and there had to be a way to make it SAFE! After everything I learned, I think EVERYONE that flies drones should have to take the Part 107 test! There’s SO MUCH that you wouldn’t even think about. I never would have at least. I studied for about 35 hours or so within the last 2 weeks, and I probably could have studied longer, but that’s just not me. I scheduled my test for last Thursday, and went in feeling pretty good about it!
I wanted to write this post last week, prior to my test, but was worried I would jinx myself and end up not passing my test and then be sitting here like “well, I SHOULD have past, but didn’t and now I get to take it again.” HA! I’m happy to say that I PASSED! And i’m on my way to becoming a FAA remote pilot. Next, I just have to wait to be vetted by TSA, and then the FAA to process the paperwork. By the end of this week, it should all be official! WOOT WOOT!!!!
I’m so excited to bring this fun aspect of photography to my AMAAAAZING couples, and clients, and I can’t wait to see what fun stuff we come up with this year.
In the meantime, here’s a little video of me and Raylee walking by my house. She’s crazy, my dog poops a lot, and we live in a pretty cool place. 🙂 Check it out!
