If you remember a few months ago, I got to be a part of a bridal show. It was a good way to get my feet wet in the bridal show arena, and it was a good indication that it wasn’t really my jam. There was one good thing to come out of the show, though, and it was meeting Brooke! She was one of the brides that I got to meet with during the show, and I knew that if we got together, we could do some awesome things! Once her and her fiance, Cody, booked me, and the more I got to see what this girl is all about from chatting with her more, I KNEW we would get along great. If their wedding is anything like our time during their Chelan Engagement Session, then it’s going to be absolutely PERFECT.
These two love to go on adventures! Cody is a firefighter and it totally made me laugh when me and Brooke were trying to decide on a location for their engagement session when she told me “Cody used to work for a helicopter firefighting crew where they hiked tons with heavy weight so….he is our designated carrier.” We initially thought about going up to Colchuck Lake for their engagement session, but they made the trek up there and decided the hike wasn’t worth being sweaty for their photos, and the lake was still frozen. LAME. We ended up deciding on in the Chelan Gorge which is an AMAZING location (even if we had to sneak around a fence. HA!), and I’m SO glad that we did.
Every time I go up to to the Chelan area, I’m always reminded why so many people love it. The Chelan Gorge is literally a hidden gem. It’s where the Chelan River empties into the Columbia River, and for years was home to some of the best kayaking around. They have since limited the kayaking though, since so many people have died. It’s seriously insane. I watch videos for hours on Youtube….just go watch…I’m telling you! 🙂
The Couple
These two met through mutual friends, but it was Brooke who made the first move and asked Cody for his number. They talked here and there, but it wasn’t until Brooke was left behind at a bar with one of her friends, when Cody swept in and saved the day! He gave her a safe haven for the night when Brooke fell in love with him. These two love to hike and spending time working out together, and spending time with their sweet baby girl! We had to get that little one in on some photos because she’s just adorable. 🙂 It was pretty obvious to me how much these two love each other, and that they truly are best friends. They are super silly today, and I absolutely LOVED that. They were just too dang cute.
The Proposal
Cody proposed to Brooke overlooking Lake Chelan. He planned the day just for her, but she had no idea it was coming. He told her they were going in for a Mother’s Day wine tasting event, but when they showed up, no one was there. They had some sampler wine, and walked around the back area of Benson Winery overlooking the lake. He had set up a table with all of her favorite things, and then proposed to her right then and there! She said yes, and it wasn’t until later that she figured out he had brought her there before the winery opened for the day so they could have it all to themselves. SO sweet.
It was only natural that we headed back around to Chelan for their engagement session.
Chelan Engagement Session
These two literally KILLED it during their session. They looked amazing, their daughter was the sweetest, and we got some of my most favorite shots to date. I always LOVE when my clients find the coolest locations for their shoot, and this one was one of those! It’s even better, though, when your couple is so sweet that you forget about the awesome scenery because they’re seriously adorable. They willingly played some of my silliest games, and we just ended up having a great time, and laughed a ton. Cody and Brooke, thanks SO much for meeting me out there! Though it’s no Colchuck, we definitely got some amazing views! I’m so excited to celebrate your wedding day with you this fall! 🙂
