Tucked away in a quaint little town in eastern Washington lies Terra Blanca Winery. As your guests travel to this eastern Washington wedding venue, they will get to enjoy the amazing views that Washington has to offer. It will be hard for them to believe they aren’t in the wine country of Napa Valley California, but Washington itself. Once they pull into the venue, they will be blown away by its beauty.Walking to the front door, there’s a beautiful pond to the right of the walkway while you walk down a tunnel of grapevines that leads you straight to their huge wooden stained doors. And that’s just your first impression!
I got the amazing opportunity to meet with the co-owner, ReNae, and the marketing coordinator, Jordan, this last week. We had a good chat and it seems like ReNae and I had quite a bit in common! We both came from small Wyoming towns. When someone you meet knows where Kemmerer, Wyoming is and how to pronounce it, you know it’s going to go well. We both moved to bigger cities, decided it wasn’t for us, then settled in to a small town in the gorgeous state of Washington.
ReNae and her husband, Keith, had a dream. Unfortunately, Keith’s involved a sailboat and a charter company, and ReNae’s……didn’t. ReNae sent him back to the drawing board, unsure how her accounting background could help much while sitting in a sail boat on the ocean. They ended up thinking up something even greater and Terra Blanca Winery was born. Starting in just a small shed on an empty treeless hillside, they put their heart and soul into this dream.
Eventually, their little shed just wasn’t enough space for their ever-expanding business. They needed more room. Something bigger and better, and that led them into the amazing building they have today. They have been there since 2006 and never looked back. With a gorgeous view of their man-made pond, you can enjoy their house made wine (straight from grape to bottle onsite) on their covered stone patio, or enjoy their yummy food on the weekends. I hear their flatbreads are amazing.
I asked ReNae what made them get into the wedding business, and she was taken back to her second wedding they ever had at the winery. It was one of her best friends, and they just thought, why not have it there!? She was the Maid of Honor, and everything just seemed to flow together and the day went off without a hitch. Everyone was happy, and the bride and groom were in love, and they thought “We could do this!!”
They limit the amount of weddings that they host to 15 per year because they are a winery first then a wedding venue. They don’t want their customers to be unhappy because they have to close their doors early or make part of the building unavailable because of a wedding. Curious about being one of those brides? Then plan on paying your deposit to secure the venue a year in advance, maybe even two to be safe!
As your wedding venue, they really offer quite a bit to their bride and grooms. Not only is it a great place for your reception, but the ceremony too! They have a gorgeous area by the caves they first built in 1997. As the bride, you will go down a walkway lined with shrubs, flowers and the perfect little silver lantern lights to see all of your family and friends, down to the man of your dreams. It’s shaded (so grandma and grandpa won’t melt in the heat of the summer) and the golden light that spills in through the trees will make your photographer swoon.
They have black steel chairs that you can use for your ceremony and seat around 200, or have the option of bringing in some folding white chairs to add more seating. There is a bit of flexibility when it comes to the actual location of your ceremony though. If you don’t love the idea of having it next to the caves or weather isn’t great, you can do it in their covered patio. Or there is another location that works as well, but it comes with a pretty steep slope to get to it, but there are definitely great choices! That’s one of the great things about this location!
When it comes to your reception, they really have everything covered: tables, chairs, linens (though limited colors), wine, and some tasty food from Twigs. They have partnered with them since Twigs came to Tri-cities and it’s been a perfect match. You also have an event coordinator through the venue! She works closely with other vendors making your timeline perfect for your special day! So you plan the wedding, but they work on the behind the scenes stuff. They coordinate with Twigs to make sure your menu is just right, and that the wine pairs well with what they are serving. They really focus on the little details. As I stated about the flexibility for your ceremony, you have the same with the reception. They have both their downstairs ball room, the upstairs ballroom, depending on what space you are needing, and their courtyard. They really have everything.
There’s a bridal suite for the bride to get her wedding dress on and make her final round of primping, while the groom and groomsmen can be stowed away so they won’t see her on the way to the first look or the ceremony.
So while you have everything you could need for your wedding day, you will also have some great areas for your wedding photos! Everything from the area by the caves for your ceremony, to the rows of the vineyards, down to the wine caves (my personal favorite!), you’ll have such diverse wedding photos, no one will believe it was all in one place!
Terra Blanca Winery is a gorgeous wedding venue, and I can’t wait to shoot more there! Everything is so breathtaking, it’s a great location for a wedding here in eastern Washington.
