I knew that taking Mike & Amy’s Wenatchee engagement photos was going to be a great time! From the first time I met the two of them, i knew that they were some genuinely amazing people. Even if they make me feel like I need to be more active. HA! 😉 These two are always out and about doing something! From cycling from Wenatchee to Leavenworth and back (106 miles total if you ask Amy), to hiking Mt. Si, these two are constantly pushing each other.

How They Met

It all started with a little help from Match.com! Depending who you ask, their first date/interview process later lead into two more, and the third time is the charm!

The Proposal

The proposal went a little something like this.  Amy had ran a half marathon that day (and got a new PR!), and when she got home Mike asked if she wanted to go hiking. She told me “i just figured he was trying to wear me out, but i was feeling pretty good,”  so they went. There was a box of girl scout cookies that Mike had put on the table because they usually brought snacks on their hikes, but Amy stayed strong and resisted, and off they went. About halfway, Mike told Amy he had something for her, and Amy thought “THE GIRL SCOUT COOKIES!” Mike told her no girl scout cookies, but he though she was going to like this better. He asked her to to marry him and be the one with him on all of life’s adventures.
Of course, she said yes!

The Engagement Photos

Our evening together was a blast. We started out at Mike’s dad’s house at Rock Island. His neighbor has a beautiful cherry orchard that they wanted to get some shots at. Going through the trees, Amy may have been attacked by a spider, but she made it out alive. 😉 I got to tell them the fun fact that I used to be an exterminator, and got the same reaction as I usually do which was surprise. We had some good laughs about that, and kept at it despite the trama. We had some gorgeous light, and didn’t run into any more spiders after that. We got some gorgeous shots at his dad’s dock, but when i was trying to get more genuine reactions from the two of them, I told Mike to tell Amy a story. They both laughed and Mike said that Amy is always trying to get him to tell her stories, but he never has stories to tell. I then had to tell them that I can appreciate that because me and my husband are the same way!  I’m always trying to get him to tell me stories or tell me what happened in the day and he never does. I can see in the near future, Amy and I having to call each other to tell each other stories at the end of the day. We had some good laughs about that then made our way into Wenatchee for my favorite part of our shoot!

When i first met up with these two, I had asked both of them what they did. Mike told me he was in real estate. I was always thinking houses, but when I asked them what the connection was to the Vradenburg (an old historic building in Wenatchee where they wanted to get some shots at) they told me that Mike owned it!! He’s owned it for about two years and has helped restore it to a pretty amazing condition! After the Vradenburg, we moved to the rooftop of another historic building in Wenatchee (that I later found out Mike had bought recently as well). When someone asks if you want to shoot on the rooftops of buildings, you don’t turn them down. 🙂

So all in all, we had some good laughs, we joked about eskimo kisses, we got to see some amazing views of the mountains around Wenatchee from a rooftop, laughed about 65 year old men watching Dora the Explorer, and really just connected. It makes me pretty happy when not only I have a great experience, but my clients feel the same way. I want them to know not all wedding planning has to be stressful. Not all wedding preparation has to be stressful, and I’m more than willing to make our time together enjoyable.
So here they are- the future Mr. & Mrs. Fleming!
If you want to check out their amazing surprise-filled wedding, you can do that here.
