I hadn’t shot a Shadow Lake Ranch Wedding until this year, and I managed to pick up quite a few! I love finding new venues to shoot at, and this one was right up my alley. Tucked away between Benton City and Prosser, you find Shadow Lake Ranch. It may not look like much driving up to it, but I was pretty surprised once I got the time to adventure around a little bit. At the end of the day, it was the perfect place for Jorden and Jeanette to celebrate their special day with all their families and friends.
Their wedding day was such a different feel than when we did their engagement session. We managed to get those done in the winter time, and it was COLD. They helped keep each other warm that day, but on their wedding day, we were working to make sure everyone was cool enough. That’s kind of the draw you get with these early summer weddings in the Inland Northwest! It’s either SO so hot, or it’s kind of chilly and rainy, but there’s generally no in between. It was pretty toasty, but luckily there was enough shade that we were able to stay cool most of the day.
From being Jeanette’s flying spotter for cheerleading in high school to now, it’s safe to say that these two are best friends. It was fun to see them interact on their wedding day. I love to watch these two together because of how apparent is is that Jorden ADORES Jeanette. These two are just good, good people, and after seeing the dynamic of their friends and families, it was pretty clear where they get that from. It always helps to surround yourself with kind people, and these two have done just that.
Their families were amazing, their friends were so sweet, and I’m so honored that I got to be the one to document it all! The ceremony was perfect, and while it was one of the most important times of the day (because they got married, and all!) there was one event that was SO so special. These two have a good friend who was deployed before he got to be Jorden’s best man at the wedding. It was a sad day when they figured out he wouldn’t be there to help celebrate the day, but with some help, he made a touching video for them to play during the reception. There were quite a few tears shed from most in attendance as he gave them well wishes, chugged a beer, took a few shots, and helped these two celebrate such a special day. I love those special little make-you-feel-all-the-feel moments. There were all sorts of those throughout the day, and on my way home, I was again overwhelmed by the people I get to work with. Jorden and Jeanette, thank you SO much for choosing me to be the one to document one of the most important days of your lives! I can’t wait to see what your next adventure will be! 🙂
