I don’t know about you, but this time has been valuable to catch up on all my shows. I wanted to give you my 10 best shows to binge-watch during quarantine. Now i’m not recommending you sit and binge watch for hours upon hours, ignore your housework, your kids, your future husband/wife, ignore you humanly duties, or ANYTHING like that. But if keeping your sanity includes binge-watching a few shows on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, or whatever other streaming source you use, then do it. Here’s just a few of my favorites with my $0.02 on why I loved it, and why I could have lived without it, probably. HA!
10 Best Shows to Binge-Watch During Quarantine
10. Tiger King
Where to Watch- Netflix
I know, i know. If Lisa Frank was a person, it would be this guy- Joe exotic. If KUWTK (Keeping up with the Kardasians) is like watching a train-wreck, then I don’t know what horror you could compare this one too. I just know that each beside left me thinking “what in the world!?!?!” And it just gets weirder and weirder. We’ll keep this one at number 10, because I think it is binge-worthy, but I also think you may feel like you lost 8 hours of your life that you will never get back.
9. Hart of Dixie/Virgin River
Where to Watch- Netflix
Hear me out. I love Hart of Dixie. Big City girl moves to po-dunk town in the south. Has to fit in with the locals. The Doctor and one of the main characters is Tim Matheson.
Just a few months ago, I started watching Virgin River because Netflix recommended it for me. Low and behold- big city girl moves to po-dunk town in the middle of no where. Has to fit in with the locals. The Doctor and one of the main characters is Tim Matheson.
SO original. But the side stories are a little different, and I love them both. Just don’t watch them at the same time- you’d be all sorts of confused.
8. Gilmore Girls
Where to Watch- Netflix
What’s not to love about the Gilmore Girls. Full of romance, it’s punny, and you get the original Melissa McCarthy. If I need something mindless to watch, I’ll turn to Gilmore Girls. But it’s gotta be the original, not the revamp. They definitely tried to hard on that one. Take it from me.
7. The Grand Tour
Where to watch- Amazon Prime Video
Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammon, and James May are HILARIOUS. If you never watched Top Gear with them, you missed out (but you could watch that too). If you like cars, and awful English humor, then you need to watch these guys. They go on adventures, talk about fast cars, dumb cars, home-make cars. You gotta watch it.
6. The Handmaid’s Tale
Where to watch- Hulu
This may hit a little too close to home right now being in quarantine, but it shouldn’t be TOO close to home. At first, you’ll be like “wait……what?” and then you realize that it is exactly what you think it is. It will make your stomach churn, but then you start to want to fight for the characters. Then you get sucked in and can’t stop watching. Warning: May trigger some people with PTSD from traumatic experiences.
5. Stranger Things
Where to watch- Neflix
Sci-fi, a little freaky, and it will definitely give you 1980’s vibes (just look at the title font!) but SO so good. Fun fact: one of my photographer friends shot a wedding that David Harbour (Chief Hopper) officiated thanks to a Twitter bet. HA. Check it out here.
I can’t give away too much on this one, but watch it. If you can’t get into it first, don’t worry. Just keep trying.
4. Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist
Where to watch- Hulu
Think Glee meets Pitch Perfect. If you love Skyler Astin in the Pitch Perfect movies, then you’ll love this show. It made me laugh.
3. Black Sails
Where to watch- Hulu or Amazon (Starz- see newest episodes)
Pirates, treasure, and mystery, oh my!! Beware: it’s from Starz so it’s a little risk-ay.
2. Outer Banks
Where to watch- Netflix
Maybe it’s because I might have a slight crush on the main character, Chase Stokes (John B in the show). He plays a 16 year old on the show, but he’s really 27, so that makes me feel less of a creeper. HA!
But Glamour magazine said it perfect about the show-it is “an addictive blend of Riverdale, The O.C., and The Goonies”, and it totally is. Treasure hunting, mystery, a villian, this show has got it all. And the main character isn’t bad to stare at. HAHAHA!
1. Outlander
Where to watch- Netflix or Amazon (Starz- see the latest episodes)
If you’ve been here any sort of time, you may know my obsession with Outlander. I started it from a recommendation off Amazon, found out they were based on books, started reading the books (there’s going to be 10!), fell in love with the charaters, now it’s an obsession. But seriously, go watch it.
Bonus Round: THE WITCHER
Where to watch-Netflix
Henry Cavill. ‘Nough said. 🙂
Hope you like my list of the 10 best shows to binge-watch during this crazy quarantine life. I bet you could work on getting through these over the next few weeks! Let’s hope it’s not much longer than that! Happy watching!
