You have been planning for months, maybe even over a year for your wedding day! There’s been time, money, sweat, tears, maybe even blood in planning it, and one of the worst things a bride can do to herself is stress out so much on the wedding day that it’s not even fun. Here’s a few ways you can ensure that you will enjoy your wedding day!

Eat Breakfast

I know what most of you are thinking…

“Misty, I don’t even eat breakfast on a regular day.”

Well, tell you what. This isn’t a regular day! It’s your WEDDING DAY!!!! Things are going to be crazy, and move so fast and without a good breakfast, it’s going to be 7 PM, dinner is late, and you’re about to keel over because you’re literally famished. Don’t do that to yourself. You ARE the bride. Have a good, filling breakfast to ensure that you won’t be starving by the time dinner rolls along. There’s a good chance you won’t get a whole lot for lunch, so it’s always helpful to have snacks too!

Like those Snickers commercials used to say “You’re not you when you’re hungry….”

Wear a Button-up Shirt for Prep

tips to enjoy your wedding day - wear a button up shirt for prep

I don’t know why I never thought of this until a wedding that I shot last month. This is GENIUS!!! Either you have a super cute “bride” robe for your prep part of your day, or you don’t. I feel like it’s kind of 50/50 with my brides lately, but IF you don’t have a robe to wear while you’re getting into hair and makeup, wear a button up shirt. It will be SO much easier when it comes to getting that said shirt off, and getting you into your dress. That way you don’t have to worry about your hair getting messed up or your makeup smudging. WINNING!

Break in Your Shoes

I don’t know about you, but I HATE buying new shoes. Wait. I don’t hate buying new shoes, but I do hate having the break them in. Your wedding shoes are no different. No matter what type of shoes you’ll be donning on your wedding day, be sure to break them in! There’s nothing worse than not being able to walk about 3 hours because you have blisters, or your toenails about to fall off, or any other thing that happens because your shoes aren’t broken in. It’s just not worth it. Make sure you can walk around comfortably in them before your wedding day for HOURS.

Pack Some Flats

10 Things not to do a week before the wedding lace flat bridal shoes

This one goes hand in hand with the last. If you didn’t (and even if you did) break in those wedding shoes of yours, your feet may still get sore by the end of the night! They say beauty is pain, but it doesn’t have to be come time for the reception. You’re going to want to dance with your best girls, your new hubby, and all your friends, and if you pack some flats, you won’t have aching feet the next day! Whether you choose your favorite flip-flops, or heck, maybe even some Chuck-Ts, find your favorite comfy flats and rock it!

Have a Babysitter for Your Phone

One of the saddest things I see on wedding days is brides constantly having to be on their phone before the ceremony. Your florist will text you that they’re running late. The best man is lost. Your mom is sobbing because her baby girl is getting married, and she can’t hold it together. Things happen, and it makes your wedding day SO much more enjoyable when YOU aren’t the one that has to run mediator about the little things. Find someone you trust that knows what is and should be going on and let them deal with those things. Maids of Honor make great phone babysitters! 😉

Relax

Once you have the phone babysitter, it’s time to relax. Enjoy getting pamper with someone else doing your hair and makeup. Enjoy knowing that you’re going to look amazing on your wedding day. Enjoy that all your friends and family are coming together for YOU and your man because they believe that what you’re doing matters. The little things might seem like a big deal in the moment, but it’s so much more important to realize what you’re really there for. Relax. Take some deep breaths. Tell yourself it’s going to be a great day (because hello!!! It is!), and rock it. You’re about to get married!
