I think our little community is pretty creative most of the time. It was NO doubt to me this week when they put on a little walk through Bethlehem, and in a potato cellar no less! Our church members rallied together and spent time putting together the stalls, figuring our what to serve, making the hebrew signs, and even getting farm animals. WHAT? They, of course, had a donkey for Mary, some cows, goats, even some peacocks. It was a pretty cool little scene. They asked that people dress as with the time and come in a robe or something similar (I have to admit, we weren’t very festive in our Carhartt coats) but it was pretty fun to be able to get a feel of what Bethlehem would have been like.
The youth of our ward put on a little skit reenacting the night of the Savior’s birth, but I was bummed because we left early thanks to a little 2 1/2 year old who refused to take a nap that day. She just wanted to run around and get lost, so we decided ti would be best to head home. I did get some fun shots of the signs, and some of the animals, as well as the stable that was ADORABLE.
This year I hope we can remember the real meaning of Christmas. It’s not about the presents, or Santa, or any of that. It’s to remember the night our Savior came to the earth.
I hope you all have a Merry Christmas!! And a Happy New Year! 🙂
