Coming up the winding roads around Leavenworth you would never believe that you would find a barn like the one at Pine River Ranch. What used to be a family-owned dairy, the first automated one actually, built back in 1944 along with the house still on site, is now one of my favorite wedding venues in the state! I shot my first wedding there as a second to an amazing photographer, and I fell in love with how beautiful it is!
The Details
This June, Pine River Ranch was bought by a new owner. Patrick and his wife were looking for something that they could do after they retire in a few years. They started looking about 10 years ago for something that would do the trick, and then they found the ranch. Since June, they have had about 17 weddings (HOLY SMOKES) and they can’t wait to keep going. They have seen a little of what they want to do with the barn and a few things that they may want to change.
So far, they have found that weddings where the couples know what they want, but are willing to compromise for the things they can’t have seem to be the least stressful. They are pretty easy going, and love it when the couples they work with are as well. With the location of the venue, the couples are able to do quite a bit when it comes to personalizing their day. Many get married in the front lawn, but there are other locations as well. You could have the ceremony upstairs in the barn (a great location for a winter wedding), or even out by the ponds behind the barn! There’s 22 acres surrounding the barn, and they are willing to make it happen if you want it. They provide your tables, chairs, plates, glasses, flatware, and any service tables you need.
When it comes to how many guests they can accommodate, Pine River Ranch has a sweet spot around 150-170. They can accommodate up to 240, but after about 180 people, you have to have the reception split with some indoor and some outdoor.
My Take on Pine River Ranch
I just love everything about this place, though. From the gorgeous views while driving up the canyon, to the barn surrounded by the mountains, to the bridal and groom’s suite in the top of the barn, Pine River Ranch is a beautiful place for a wedding. If you have a certain date in mind, you need to put your deposit for the venue down probably a year in advance. They book weddings throughout the year and love to have their couples come and check out the venue to make sure it’s a perfect fit! It’s definitely one of my favorites!
