If you were around a few weeks ago, then you might remember my sweet friend Marie’s maternity session in the desert. One of my favorite maternity sessions ever, that you can see here, actually. I loved getting to document that special time for Marie, but I was even more excited for this part of their adventure. I’ve been incorporating more lifestyle newborn sessions instead of really posed newborn photos. You’re going to look at these and think “uh, Misty, these are still posed.”
You’re totally right, but I’m not taking HOURS and hours trying to make my newborns SO sleepy that I can post them in the perfect shape, or sitting up, or crazy things like that. I think newborns are adorable JUST the way they are, and they don’t need all that extra fluff. The more of these lifestyle type sessions that I do, the more and more I fall in love with them.
I was so excited to get to snuggle this sweet girl, that as I was prepping for our session, I made a HUGE mistake. You see, Matt and Marie are both WSU alumni. They LOVE the cougars, like LOOOOOOVE the cougars, and HATE the UW Huskies. It’s a pretty strong rivalry in Washington, and you really can’t go both ways. You’re either a Coug fan or a Huskies fan. Well these two bleed crimson and grey, and I made the biggest mistake of bringing a Huskies-shade purple blanket. I was kind of mortified when Matt came in and said “there’s purple blanket,” and then it hit me. HAHAHAHA!
I’m still laughing so hard about it. Luckily, with some quick thinking, we came up with a different option for the blanket, and it all worked out. We didn’t have to use the purple blanket. I’m dying, you guys.
This sweet lump was SO good for me, and I’m so happy I got to snuggle her for a little bit the other day. So, now you heard my funny story, here’s this sweet girl.
Sabrina (not Shelby–I kept calling her that because my newest niece is Shelby. I’m losing my mind, people) – 3 days new
I love me a good 3 generation photo. đ
