Last weekend was my wrap-up of my fall wedding season, but that makes it so I have plenty of time for engagement sessions this month!! I’m so excited to get to work with some of my 2018 brides this year, and that excitement was definitely there for this Klickitat County engagement session! I love it when my couples find a location that is special to them, and when Makaela told me they had some property out in Klickitat County that they love to go hunting on, I knew that was the perfect place!
I always love to hear my couple’s story, and these two had a pretty great one! They met thanks to some friends and a certain app who-shall-not-be-named. It never surprises me these days to hear that my clients met on match.com, or Facebook, or a dating app, or anything like that. I feel like it’s getting more and more common these days, and it really is amazing when two people meet with the help of one of those things, and hit it off! These two’s story was just that. They talked back and forth for about a week before they agreed to meet up. Makaela lived out in Selah, and Ethan drove all the way from Pasco to get her for their first date, though he was a little concerned when he pulled up to her sketchy looking house. Luckily, for them, Ethan was feeling pretty brave and they had a great night, and then he drove all the way back to Pasco.
These two love spending time with each other outdoors. They hunt, they fish, and love hiking. They also have the sweetest little red heeler pup name June. If you know me very well, you know that I have a sweet blue heeler that my dad has since adopted because they love each other, and I love him so much. I basically love any dog, but heelers are some of my favorites. 🙂 It was fun to watch her run around and explore while we were taking photos, and she shows up here and there in them, which totally makes me laugh.
Their proposal story even involves little June! They got engaged on the 4th of July, and they had just gotten home from boating with friends. Makaela sat down in the grass after checking some gopher traps to play with June, and Ethan came over and let her know he had a question for her. He pulled her to her feet, told him he hadn’t asked her dad yet, but was going to ask her anyways, and that’s when Makaela realized what was happening! He pulled the ring out, and asked her to marry him! She gave him her right hand because she was so nervous and shaking, and she said yes! She had been anticipating it since Christmas, but told me “the moment I was thinking it wouldn’t happen, it happened!” It was the perfect surprise!
During their session, I decided these two are literally the cutest. Their love for each other overcomes distance, and travel, and I’m so excited to get to celebrate their wedding next spring! Until then, we get to play “where’s June?” in their engagement photos. 🙂
