I can never get over how much diversity we have in our state and that definitely holds true after this Kennewick Engagement Session. I was a little worried being that our winter basically just got over and things are still looking kind of dead, but Donovan and Julie stole the show, and the looming thunderstorm overhead even held out until we got finished. Leading into our session, I was giving them their pep talk about how the session would go when I asked something that I ALWAYS ask my clients:
“Have you ever done this before?”
By this I mean professional photos, and I usually always get a “no!” as an answer, so it totally threw me off when Donovan told me that he had! I had to find out more, and that’s when he told me that he’s acted before! I’m a pretty avid Netflixer (that’s not a word), but imagine my surprise when he told me that he had been on the show Z-Nation! If you haven’t watched it, it’s another zombie show (not as good as The Walking Dead, but I don’t think there is such a thing), and we’ve watched it, and just started on their newly release season. I thought it was the coolest thing-obviously.
But enough about that, let’s get to these two. I’m always excited to hear more about how my couples met, and more of their story. It was up for debate when these two “met,” but I think they narrowed it down to at work. Donovan had been working at Ted Brown Music for a while, and one day, Julie came in for an interview. Long story short, she got the job, and they started working together. That gave them plenty of time to talk and get to know each other and the rest is history!
When it came to their proposal, Donovan had been planning it for weeks. He found out that Zales had just come out with their new Enchanted line of rings, and he knew that would be the perfect ring for Julie. Meanwhile, Julie had NO idea of any of it. All of their friends knew, their families knew, and Julie was in the dark. I was SO impressed by that because so many times I hear how my grooms WANTED it to be a surprise, but somebody slips up. Luckily for him, their friends are better secret keepers than most. They had gone out to dinner, and Julie kept having this weird feeling that something was up. Donovan kept staring at her, and was acting kind of off. She kept asking him if something was going to happen, and he had to keep reassuring her that everything was fine. After she kept asking and asking, Donovan told her that she was right. Something was going to happen. And that’s when he reached behind him, and asked her to marry him with that Enchanted ring. The Belle Rose ring to be exact. She said yes, went and told family, and then spent the night with their friends to celebrate!!! So fun!
During our session, it was pretty clear that these two adore each other, and also that they are pretty great at making each other laugh. I loved getting to know the two of them more, and I’m so excited to get to celebrate with them on their wedding day this year!
