I always love when my couples are up for a little adventure. Me and Kendall had been trying to figure out a time to get her and Armin’s engagement session on the schedule, and we were having one heck of a time doing it. Between graveyard shifts, and a Monday through Thursday job, and then throwing my schedule into the mix, it was getting to be tough! It was just a crazy chance that I asked her if they would want to do their session this past weekend, but I asked her on Wednesday! HA! It turned out they were thinking of heading to Spokane, and well, I love that place, and that’s how we ended up shooting this downtown Spokane engagement session!
The Couple
I say this every stinkin’ time it happens. I LOVE when my couples were high school sweethearts. Maybe it’s a sign that I’ve branded myself correctly, but being married to one myself, it just makes my little heart pitter-patter. It all started for these two in photography class, no less!!!! WHAT!? When I was asking them about it, I had to make the joke about “what happens in the darkroom….” đ They started flirting in the dark room, then started hanging out that next summer, and the rest (as they say) is history. During their session, I got them into the “prom pose” and they were pros because of all the school dances they went to together! It’s seriously SO fun for me when I get to work with high school sweethearts. I think it’s absolutely freakin’ adorable! đ
The Proposal
Are you ready for this one? It’s a good one!
These two are quite the world travelers. One summer, they headed to Croatia and Bosnia to visit Armin’s family! I was pretty jealous hearing about all that! Another time, they decided to make a shorter trip to Vancouver, BC. I need to make a trip up there because I have only heard how awesome it is! And it’s SO close to us! They drove up there, and on the way, they stopped to see some family who all knew what was going down, but Kendall was clueless to the whole situation! Armin was sneaky like that. They headed up there for New Years and had quite a trip! One of the days, they decided to take a little bike ride around Stanley Park. They rode around until they got to a little overlook on the bay and then got off to take a rest. That’s when Armin pulled out a little Kinder Suprise egg. If you don’t have kids, you may not have any idea what they are, but if you do have kids, then you may have been succumbed to watching hours and hours of kids opening their Kinder Surprise eggs. Anyways. Armin had strategically gotten the thing apart, only to put the ring inside, melted some chocolate, and stick it back together!! GENIUS! As soon as Kendall saw what it was, she chucked the chocolate over the cliff and Armin got down on one knee (in the mud), and popped the question.
She said yes. And then cried happy tears!
Downtown Spokane Engagement Session
I really love choosing locations for my couples that mean something to them. Kendall went to school at Gonzaga and these two really LOVE Spokane!! I love Spokane, having lived there for almost 3 years in college, but I never get to go there as often as I’d like. I can’t even remember the last time I WAS in Spokane, so I was pretty excited when the idea came up! We wandered our way around Riverfront Park, found out we couldn’t go all the way down to the Falls lookout, but shot in some awesome spots! These two are SO dang cute together, and really made my job SO easy! I kept telling that, and I’m sure they thought I was just saying it, but I wasn’t! These guys are pros.
I can’t wait for their gorgeous winery wedding this fall! It’s going to be amazing! đ Thanks for meeting me in Spokane guys! It was a blast!
