I had such a fun time doing this cherry blossom photo shoot with Mrs. Washington herself, Deidra Murphy. We’ve done a few photo shoots here and there, but with having this new baby and everything involved with that, I hadn’t been able to get away much, but luckily, this lady was able to come to me!
I was excited when she had said she was willing to make the trek over this way because I knew that the cherry blossoms would be out!! If you remember WAAAAAY back, I did a fun photo shoot with Keitra Jane in the blossoms, and i’ve literally been dying to do something in them again. What you CAN’T see in the images is the fact that there’s bees EVERYWHERE. The farmers put out bees to help pollinate the blooms (so we get fruit, ya know), and they’re great and all for that, but not so great when you are horrified of getting stung.
Story time: I worked in pest control for almost 3 years. Two summers, I spent my time working mosquito control, and then for a year and a half after high school, I worked doing pest control. I spent probably one of the hottest summers in Spokane in a bee suit for about 2 weeks. In temps over 90 up there (which was kind of a big deal), I was stuck in my bee suit doing hornet/wasp/bee job one after another. I was sweaty and stinky for those two weeks and my truck smelled SO bad because that’s where my suit ended up. One particular incident, I had to remove a bald-faced hornets nest from a sprinkler box and it was HUGE-basically the whole sprinkler box was filled with the nasty little buggers that were basically the size of my pinky. YUCK. Somehow through all of that, I NEVER got stung! I got a lot of mosquito bites doing best control, but never stung as an exterminator. It wasn’t until a year after I stopped doing that, after I got married, that I got stung by 2 bees within a week of each other.
It hurt, and I haven’t been too excited about bees since.
Anyways, Deidra was a trooper when I made her walk into the orchard with the bees buzzing around everywhere. I looked like Eminem with my hood up and tied so i didn’t get any in my hair, and Jackson was covered pretty good so he didn’t have any unexpected visitors either. I loved all her outfits, and just like before, it was a pleasure working with her! So enough of my story time, let’s see some pictures!
Raylee even wanted to get in on some of the action…HAHA. We decided her outfit was the best of them all. 😉
