If you didn’t get it from last weeks cherry blossom photo shoot with Deidra, then maybe after this cherry blossom engagement session you’ll understand how much I love this time of year and why! I loved getting to work with Arturo and Jessica! I had put out a model call for a couple willing to come to Mattawa and shoot in the cherry blossoms. Every year I do the same thing around this time of year, and somehow every year, it doesn’t end up happening. When I put out a call, I’ll have people volunteer, but then I tell them it HAS to happen within the next two weeks or we won’t have blossoms, and schedules never line up, BUT this time was different. And I’m so grateful that it did!!
I was hoping to have a bit of sun, but these next few weeks look like we’re going to be having weather more similar to Seattle, so I’ll take what I can get. It was either shoot in the overcast weather with blossoms, or hold out for the sun and possibly have no more blossoms. I picked the first option…well because you’ll see!
Jessica is a photographer herself, and it’s always a little nerve wracking when you get to photograph another photographer. We kept laughing about “not having enough light” and showing up a few minutes behind, and things that every photographer manages to deal with. It ended up going SO well that I just want to take pictures of photographers all the time! 🙂 But maybe not. HA!
One thing is for sure though, these two are freeeeeeaking adorable. I knew that these were going to be good, but I just didn’t know how good. You can just see that these two REALLY adore each other, and their smiles are more than enough for me! These two can thank the glorious world of social media for crossing paths. Thanks to a few mutual friends, and Facebook, these two started talking. Arturo was down in Mexico, and it wasn’t until recently that he made his way up here, but before that, Jessica and her family took a trip down there himself.
It was a big family affair and, both of their parents showed up, and they had a great visit! One of the nights was planned for something special though, unbeknownst to Jessica. Arturo and Jessica’s sister had been trying to orchestrate his proposal without her knowing, and she really had NO idea what was goin’ down. It wasn’t until Arturo said a few words, thanked her parents for being there, and then asked everyone to go outside. There was a pathway with twinkle lights, lined with flowers, and at the end a huge beautiful bouquet of flowers. Arturo told Jessica how he was an answer to his prayers and then asked her to marry him….and the rest is history.
Thank goodness for answered prayers. 🙂
