If you have been around here for any time frame at all, you know that I get some silly ideas from time to time. Since I started this whole photography gig, I have desperately wanted to shoot a carnival engagement session. I’ve dreamed about it, and I have seen so many other photographers get to live this dream, and I knew, one day, it would happen.
Well friends, that day came, and it was every bit as fun as I would have hoped for. I put some feelers out on Instagram to see if I could find a couple that was down for a last minute couple’s session. I had a few hesitatingly contact me that they COULD be interested, but then I got a message from Jordyn. “I’m sure you’ve had approximately 2 million yes’s but my fiance and I would love to!!…” That was like music to my ears. We figured out the time, and outfits and I’m SO glad we made it happen.
These two got engaged in one of the happiest places in all the land- Disneyland. They were headed there for their fifth anniversary, and at first, Jordyn was absolutely positive that it was going to happen then. Then she started thinking if it DIDN’T happen, that would be ok too. They were trying to save money for a house, the trip itself was kind of pricey, so if anything, they could just have a great first trip alone. Leading up to the trip, Garrett told her to not be disappointed, but he hadn’t asked her parents for their blessing so she shouldn’t expect it. Unbeknownst to her, he HAD actually talked to her step-dad, and they decided it was a better idea NOT to tell her mom and ruin the most epic surprise everrrr. At one point in the airport, Jordyn even had to go through Garrett’s bag to stuff some of her things in there and she didn’t find ANYTHING so she was sure it wasn’t going to happen.
One of the days they were there, they had a photo shoot at the park. With all of the events leading up to the shoot, she just knew nothing was going to happen and went in with zero expectations, but once they got to castle, it happened. She got her Disneyland proposal, and it was absolutely perfect.
During our shoot, we laughed WAY too hard about how difficult it is to feed each other cotton candy (them, not me. HA.), got some life advice from a sticker on the ferris wheel, and got to see some llamas so it was a great shoot if you ask me! I loved getting to know these two, hearing their story, and laughing harder than I have in a long time. See for yourself- they’re adorable.
