“Getting engaged is both a very fun and frightful moment…”
I’m sure there’s so many of us that feel that very same way, but I couldn’t have said it better than Aarika. When I met her for the first time, it was at her wedding planner’s/employer’s shop, but I had seen her story on their blog, and absolutely fell in love with that girl. HA! We basically have the same sense of humor, love dogs, and love to be outside, so I knew we would get along great. We laughed about silly things, and just had a blast getting to know each other better. I knew I had to work with her.
Imagine my elation when that final email came “We choose you!” I don’t think it was that cheesy. But it made me just as excited. 😀 But enough about me, let’s get to them.
The Proposal
Aarika and Jeremy met when they were both counselors for a church camp in 2013. They spent the last three years getting closer to each other, going on adventures, hiking, and they knew they were going to get married, then just didn’t know when. The top had come up multiple times, and Aarika was getting tired of waiting.
One day, they decided to go on a hike together, but Aarika wasn’t in the best mood. She knew that she wanted to be engaged. She knew Jeremy wanted to be engaged. So what was he waiting for!? As they were hiking, Aarika didn’t have the best attitude. As she puts it, she was “Miss Grumpy Gills…for him not having proposed yet.” She kept pouting during the hike, but as they got closer to the top, Jeremy took her to a lookout point, got down on one knee, and asked her to be his wife with a GORGEOUS rose gold diamond ring (that he picked himself, with a few different ideas from Aarika). So obviously, Aarika’s attitude quickly changed, and the day was that much better. 🙂
Boulder Cave Engagement Session
Because Aarika and Jeremy spend so much of their time up hiking, they really wanted to do their shoot up along the Naches Peak Loop, but due to some mud and snow, we ended up having to choose a different location about a day before, but I LOVE that we did!! This Boulder Cave Engagement Session was SO fun. We got to go chasing waterfalls, none of us slipped whiled we were scaling wet rocks. We walked through a cave and didn’t get eaten by any monsters (that’s a plus in my book). It really was a beautiful location, and I love going on adventures!!!! It was a little chilly, but the steep hike out of the cave helped us warm up a bit. I had so much fun with these two, getting to know them more, seeing them interact, and we got a great workout! 😉
I absolutely loved spending the afternoon with these two and I can’t wait to do it again in October! 😀 Thanks again Jeremy and Aarika! You guys are the best! 🙂
