This backyard East Wentachee Wedding was my second wedding of my first double header weekend, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way! Their families were the sweetest, and it was amazing to see how everyone pitched in during the day to make it so great. The wedding was at one of the groom’s family friends, and it was the most beautiful house! It was absolutely perfect for Cody and Brooke’s special day! When I showed up, I was probably just as giddy for the day as the two of them! We had such an awesome time during their engagement session, and I just knew their wedding was going to be just as great.
These two wanted to go the more traditional route of not seeing each other until the actual wedding ceremony, so me and second shooter split the morning between the guys and the girls. A little while after I showed up, their little girl finally made her arrival to the house. She’s basically one of the cutest kids ever, and she’s got the best mean mug face when you WANT to take a picture of her, but she was more than willing to say “CHEESE!” when I had my camera down. She reminded me a lot of Raylee- all sass.
Once we got photos of the guys and the girls, it was time for the show to begin! They had some of the best personal vows during the ceremony.
Cody: “I promise to make you laugh at least five times a day. I promise to love and support you in everything you do, after I fight you on it of course. I promise to have patience, one deep breath, and always have extra food on my plate because let’s be honest, even if we have identical plates, that forks comin’ a’reachin. I promise to let B dance to gangsta rap, because thug life chooses you, you don’t choose it. I promise to love you just as much tomorrow as I do today.”
Brooke: “I promise to cook, if you clean. I promise to keep calm when you come home with a new useless kitchen appliance. I promise to be the best mom. I promise to laugh with you…and at you. I always promise to always have faith in your love for me through all of our years and all of life’s crazy adventures.”
They exchanged rings, sealed it with a kiss, and then we got to celebrate the night away, but we had some photos to take first! đ The weather was PERFECT, and it doesn’t get much better than the light we had for their portraits! SO GOOD!
With yummy food, some great toasts, including some backstory to how Cody and Brooke’s love story began, they partied with their family and friends. The highlight of the night was definitely the garter toss. Brooke didn’t know what was happening, and honestly, either did me and my second shooter, but Cody had warned me that he had something special planned for it…it wasn’t until about a minute before it started that me and my second figured out what was going down.
Cody and a few of his firefighter buddies suited up in their gear and came out looking for a fire. HA! I was dying. Literally the best fetch-of-the-garter I’ve ever seen. đ They partied into the night, and I know there was plenty of gangsta rap to go around.
Thank you Cody and Brooke for letting me be a part of you day!!! I loved seeing how everything came together so well, and i’m so excited to watch you guys on all your next adventures!! đ CONGRATS!!! And have SO much fun in Mexico!
